Clif Family Winery is a family run winery based in St Helena, in the heart of the Napa Valley. Kit Crawford & Gary Erickson started Clif Bar & Company in 1992, fueled by their passion for food and adventure and a desire to create convenient, portable and above all delicious food for active lifestyles. Their vision at Clif Bar was always to do business in a better way, placing organic farming and organic ingredients at the forefront of their sustainability efforts as a business.

Clif Family Winery & Farm began in 2004, driven by a purpose to create a more meaningful connection between food, wine, and the land. The Clif Family Farm began as a way to connect with family members, planting fruit trees and harvesting and milling olives from the original 100-year-old olive trees on the property.

Clif Family farms 90 acres of CCOF and Napa Green Certified estate vineyards in the Howell Mountain and Oak Knoll District AVA’s of the Napa Valley, planted to 10 different varietals. Known for producing world famous Cabernet Sauvignon, the Howell Mountain AVA is located high above the valley floor on the northeast side of the Napa Valley. The Oak Knoll District is situated on Napa Valley’s largest alluvial fan, located on the southern part of the valley floor. The Estate Vineyards are farmed by Erik Dodd of Wight Vineyard Management with a focus on sustainability in all that they do.

Winemaker Laura Barrett brings her passion for wine, a life-long love of science and attention to detail to winemaking at Clif Family. Inspired by her first harvest in New Zealand, Laura received a Masters in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California, Davis and trained under some of Napa Valley’s most celebrated winemakers. With a vineyard-driven approach and a focus on organic farming, Laura is enthusiastic about working to create balanced and elegant wines.

Clif Family Winery is one of only three wineries in the Napa Valley to achieve B Corp Certification.

With focus and dedication, Clif Family champions organic food & farming, sustainable production, zero waste and conserving & restoring our natural resources.
